Meyer Davis Debuts Collaborations with Calico Wallpaper and Stellar Works
The studio will take over Calico Wallpaper and Stellar Works' Tribeca showroom to unveil two wallcoverings and furniture for William Gray, Meyer Davis' product brand

New York, New York (November 2021) — Meyer Davis, the multi-disciplinary design studio founded by Will Meyer and Gray Davis, introduces two parallel collaborations with Calico Wallpaper and Stellar Works under its William Gray product brand on November 11th during NYCxDESIGN at Calico Wallpaper and Stellar Works’ shared space in Tribeca, taking over the showroom’s adjoining storefront at 57 Lispenard Street.
The launches include a pair of bespoke wallcoverings titled Ephemera and Wilds — their first collections with Calico Wallpaper, founded by Nick and Rachel Cope — and a furniture line manufactured by the Shanghai-based design brand Stellar Works.
The showroom gives life to both collaborations, with Calico Wallpaper’s Ephemera and Wilds displayed in tandem with furniture designs, immersing visitors in a quintessential William Gray living room.
“Meyer Davis’ interiors projects and William Gray product line both offer a generous warmth and comfort that only seasoned designers could fashion,” shares Rachel Cope, Calico Wallpaper co-founder and creative director. “Ephemera and Wilds embody our shared appreciation for sophisticated, timeless design and modern warmth and eclecticism.”
Will Meyer of Meyer Davis shares that “With these collections, we have been able to explore a new design application that expresses the spirit of our product brand, William Gray. Our showroom takeover showcases the collaborations in a manner true to Meyer Davis where guests can engage with our commitment to versatile, forward-thinking design.”
“We opened our New York showroom as a dynamic space to highlight both our Stellar Works collections as well as furniture lines we produce with different collaborators, ” adds Stellar Works founder and CEO Yuichiro Hori. “I’m thrilled that the William Gray line will be the first in our series of installations. We’ve had a longstanding relationship with Meyer Davis across a number of hospitality projects so it’s thrilling to be able to manufacture a furniture collection with their team and showcase it publicly here for the first time.”

William Gray
Led by Meyer Davis co-founders Will Meyer and Gray Davis, William Gray draws on over 20 years of design influence as leaders in the residential and hospitality design industry and serves as an outlet to explore new areas of design.
The display will feature an array of William Gray pieces, including products from their Hugo, Varick, Enzo, Finn, Trinity, and Eclipse collections. Characterized by modern warmth and eclecticism, each collection is grounded in William Gray’s desire to bring empowering, versatile, and forward-thinking products to the public.
The Hugo Collection is a perfect example: the modern, meticulously designed chairs are a workhorse piece of furniture that maintains a light, nimble footprint, and with the range of sizes and finishes, Hugo can sit anywhere.
On a large scale, the Varick Collection is marked by clean crisp lines and a tailored, contrasting arm that cradles the cushion in either wood or leather. The timeless design references Mid-Century Modernism with its focus on functional beauty, a theme across William Gray designs.
The William Gray living room at Lispenard Street will embody Meyer Davis’ appreciation for timeless products and collected sophistication with each piece reflecting the studio’s lauded design aesthetic — carefully balancing style with comfort and luxury with accessibility.
Ephemera
Inspired by 20th century modernists, the Ephemera collaboration between Meyer Davis and Calico Wallpaper, created by an architectural collage of oversized, abstract forms, will be featured as part of the all-inclusive William Gray experience.
The dynamic composition offers an illusion of depth and the visual effect of an embossed surface. Featuring both organic and geometric forms that work in unison with contrasting light and shadow, the selected shapes are suggestive of the scraps and offcuts of an art practice. They reveal a richness of detail, juxtaposing unexpected elements and evoking the scattered ephemera that accumulates in a creative studio.
Wilds
Meyer Davis and Calico Wallpaper’s second collection, Wilds, will also launch at the takeover. Wilds presents an impressionistic take on a traditional floral wallcovering and captures the “wild” qualities of the natural landscapes to which the collaborating designers have personal connections — from upstate New York to Mexico to the Mediterranean.
Beginning with inspiring orchid varieties, Calico Wallpaper and Meyer Davis utilized pastels and charcoals to craft a composition of loosely drawn lines and hatchings that conveys a dynamic sense of ever-growing wildlife. The resulting motif celebrates the joyful artistry of a flower’s delicate expressive details, set within the wilderness of untouched landscapes.
